The hobby of diecast scale model collecting is a big passion, and collectors are very eager to find new places to buy models. The internet era did open a world wide search possibility. Later on, we will add some descriptions and links that we find valuable on where to buy diecast scale models on the web.

But where can we find models elsewhere than on line?

Flea Markets

Flea Markets are wonderful places to find just anything we can imagine. And yes, you can find diecast scale models too. If you are dedicated to collect great collectibles, which you can find on the internet, start digging into the Flea Market. The best thing about this is that prices are big time negotiable. You can pay for an item as if you buy a worthless toy and in fact go home with a great collector’s item.

INDSET

Thrift Stores

Thrift Stores, like the Salvation Army and Goodwill, are good places to check for diecast scale models. If you are in a “I don’t want to go into a thrift store” mood, think better. Yes there will be lots of uninteresting things from the collector’s point of you but still you can find some hidden diecast treasures here.

Garage Sales

Of course, Garage Sales are also a great place for the serious prospector. If you can’t see any diecast scale model around inform the person having the sale that you are interested in “toy models”. Many times people won’t even think to bring these out to a garage sale. Sale prices are also generally lower than flea market or thrift store prices.

Antiques Shops

Some times you walk in an Antiques Shop where everything is priced so high you wonder if the owner really wants to sell anything. But still look around; some grownups don’t value “toys”. Probably you can find satisfying deals in Antique Shops too.

And for sure there are other places too, just keep your eyes open.

You might try <http://bitpimps.lixlink.com/index.php> they create some wild custom 1/64 scale RC cars, I’ll bet someone there could make a custom die-cast for you… There are some seriously talented customizers there, just sign up (its free, and they wont spam you) and post a request “Bit / Zip discussion” thread asking if someone would help. I’m on there under a different name so I’ll see if I can hook you up with the right guys.
