My young son is nuts for the Disney/Pixar movie Cars, he wants all their Mattel die-cast “Supercharged Cars” but they’re so hard to find. The retailers tell me that the shelve-life is about 48 hrs per shipment.
I was thinking of just buying one of each piece and hold on to them for years just to see what becomes of their value, but others tell me that they’re too mass-produced and wont retain any value.
YEAH ? If they’re so mass-produced…Why can I find them them?
What pieces are harder to find ? Lightning McQueen I’m told is the easiest.
I’d have to agree with the mass production problem. Collectables become valuable when the supply dwindles. I’ve come across the same problems you’ve got and the problem here is that they aren’t producing and distributing properly to match demand. It’s because everybody wants them and they are relatively cheap, but 20 years later, everyone’ll have one so its value won’t hold up. The whole set, unopened, well that’s a different story…
