How I started collecting diecast scale models

This is how I started … this is my story.

I do love old timer cars. So I tried to get the first mass produced car: the “Ford T”. I was decided to buy one and drive it around. But I also loved the “Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost”. And if I think of the ’50-s cars I become nostalgic. How could it possible be, to have them all.

Here’s the answer: I did get a diecast scale model car. And so, I ended up buying my first. And very soon I got the second one, and the third model, until I needed some shelves to keep them all.

Diecast scale collectors love the real thing: cars, trucks, motorcycles, air planes, ships etc. But we cannot brig all these at home so we collect them as diecast scale models. Whether you spell it “diecast”, “die-cast” or “die cast” this is real stuff …

What is your story? How did you start collecting diecast scale models?

Diecast 1991 Z28?

I have a red z28 convertable and looking for a diecast model car in it’s likeness. I’ve searched all the big name makers but so far, no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Depends on what scale you want. I have a 1991 hardtop camaro and a red 1995 camaro convertible in 1/64 scale. The 91 is Matchbox and the 95 is a HotWheels. Usually the makers of the bigger scale models make older muscle cars and the latest new stuff. you might try www.Maisto.com or Jada toys. Good luck!

Im shipping a diecast car model in a box bigger than the car. What would be a good padding or support so the model car will be secure?

Bubble wrap works wonders. It’s what I use, you can buy it anywhere and it’s cheap.

Where can I get information of prices for Nascar diecast collectible cars?

I have a small collection of diecast Nascar collectible cars all in original packaging, from 1995/96 that I would like to find out the worth of. I went to a couple of websites and ebay but couldn't find anything for these older ones. I don't really want to buy a book. Can anyone help?
